As a user on StarDoll for over 6 months.. brought to the site by my niece, I have to report that all is not right in PaperDoll Heaven!
There's some very disturbing marketing of SD virtual products.
New designs, which have no better quality, are being sold at exorbitant prices!
Called LE for limited edition, these "clothes" cost 100 x what the "normal" cost of superstar clothing.
There is a user revolt going on right now... all over the world of users.
It seems that SD wants to provide young girls with the "real world"
jealousies and feelings of unobtainable status that plague western civilization.
SD also has limited offers to users dependent of their location in the world.
What is offered to the UK members is not offered to the rest of the world.
What may be a desired item in the US is not obtainable in Europe or Australia.
The company has NO RESPONSIVENESS to users complaints or issues.
Feedback will usually result in a standard "form" reply.
Be aware , that a young and impressionable mind, may find disappointment at this game.

Why doesn't Stardoll get sued for its use of celebrity likenesses and other obviously proprietary content? I can't imagine they've licensed all the stuff they have up there.

A great summary, Ravi - and I agree: it is surprising that Stardoll has not yet received more industry attention... that will surely change. They have developed a great model for making advertising a relevant and welcome addition to the user experience.

Great post Ravi, it's really informative and jam-packed with juicy information... I'm really diggin' the new look too!

I think the 'advertising recipe' that Stardoll is cookin' up is also relevant to other media (e.g. Television, Film, and Radio) -- it's a recipe for success.
